More than 15M U.S. subs viewing mobile video each month

Mobile video viewing in the U.S. continues to grow, with over 15 million Americans watching mobile video in the second quarter of 2009–a 70 percent year-over-year increase, and the largest annual growth to date according to new data issued by The Nielsen Company. Mobile subscribers watching video on their phones averaged 3 hours and 15 minutes per month in Q2, down 22 minutes from first-quarter totals–by comparison, viewers averaged 3 hours and 11 minutes watching Internet video in the second quarter. Conventional home viewing remains far and away the dominant outlet for video consumption, with viewers averaging 141 hours per month.
